» Internet Fly-In History
Welcome to the official website for the RC Flying Network, Internet Fly-In! The Internet Fly-In idea was founded by Wayne Geffon (wgeffon), Jon Uhler (Pugsley) and myself, David Smith (WreckRman2), after Jon and I drove to Bloomington, IL to meet Wayne for a weekend of trading, flying, dining and fun. In fact we had so much fun we thought why not put together a Fly-In and bring together all our Internet friends for a weekend of the same. You see we all meet on the Internet and with the idea of an Internet Fly-In we could help bring everyone who has associated on the Internet together for a weekend of flying as well as having the enjoyment of putting a face with a name.

The 1st Internet Fly-In was held on September 14-15, 2002 in Wayne's home town of Bloomington, IL. It was hosted by the SIRS club in Covell, IL. With only two months time of planning we had an amazing turnout of 35-40 pilots including Bob and Danny Synder of Team JR as well as Mike and AnnMarie Cross from Great Planes just to name a few. You can view pictures from the 1st Internet Fly-In in our gallery. This event was such a success we knew we had to do it again.

The 2nd Internet Fly-In took place the weekend of June 7-8, 2003 in Edinburgh, IN (20 minutes south of Indianapolis). This event was hosted by the Johnson County Radio Control Flyers. Our turnout was excellent with 87 registered pilots from 12 different states with over 200 airplanes on the flight line. We enjoyed an excellent day on Saturday. The high light of the day was the beautiful blue skies and lots of flying. The low light of the day was a mid-air between a Robin Hood and Tim Mills Great Planes Extra 300. Unfortunately the weather got the best of us on Sunday as it was a wash out. Even in the rain though, we had some flyers continuing to enjoy the fun. Several Profile Brotherhood guys flew all day long in and out of the rain. All in all it was a great time for all and everyone left looking forward to the next one.

The 3rd Internet Fly-In is set to take place the weekend of June 5-6, 2003 in Edinburgh, IN (20 minutes south of Indianapolis). This event is going to be hosted by the Johnson County Radio Control Flyers which offers a large 600 foot paved runway with plenty of space to fly.
